Vestiaire Collective

Updated: Mar 27, 2021

Vestiaire Collective is one of the leading online marketplaces to buy and sell authenticated pre-owned luxury fashion. In my mind it is an amazing source for premium second hand, luxury vintage pieces and even some high-street second hand finds with great design value.

Backstory

According to their website, it all started with a simple question: “Why should so many luxury fashion pieces lie unused in our wardrobes? Could there be a way to extend the lifespan of these beautiful pieces by bringing them back into circulation?”

From its conception, Vestiaire Collective encourage consumers to consider resale as a smart and sustainable approach to fashion. Since the launch in 2009, Vestiaire have grown from being a French company to a global one. They have created a global fashion community with (at the time this post is written) over 7 million members located in over 50 countries across Europe, the United States, Asia, and Australia.

Vestiaire Collective are unique in their offering of a curated catalogue of designer items with quality control on a global scale. 25,000 items are submitted for sale by people all over the world every week, enabling us second hand lovers to search over 3,500 fashion pieces a day.

Authenticated pieces

They have a team of in-house experts dedicated to controlling and authenticating all items once they are sold and claim that fighting counterfeiting has been a priority of theirs since day one.

Why its great

I have found some real gems on Vestiaire, like a Rick Owens suit jacket for €200 that retailed for €2500. In super condition too! Their "offer" functions enable you to score amazing deals by interacting with the seller. And I highly recommend adding pieces you love to your wishlist to follow price reductions. Almost everything on the site drops in price the longer it is for sale. Just don't hold out too long, someone else might bite the bullet at a higher price than that you were waiting for. 😉

You can also create alerts to be notified when items matching a specific criteria are listed on the site. Which is super useful if you are on the hunt for a specific purse, or maybe that dream coat from your favorite designer.
